crownpoodle
I was watering the 1/6 volume, but by pot size, not actual volume so they got more than that. My #3 pots hold 2 gallons of soil. #2 is 1 gallon. Why do they do that? At least the brand I'm using. I was watering daily. The every other day routine with a little more water, will go to every day again. Mostly I was busy over the holidays, and giving my back a break. I need to think more on my use of some terms, like flush and run-off. I may have been overwatering a little, but the peat/perlite drained well enough. May have led to some salt build-up/lock-out. 2 Link to comment

It's BS.Has to do w trade gallons. 1 trade gallon is like .6 real gallon. Are you completely confused by garden pot sizes? You’re not alone! In this article, Master Gardener and Permaculturist Eliza Holcombe, will help you make sense of the varying (often conflicting) pot sizes and how to determine a garden pot’s true size & volume. click here to skip to the bullet point summary or click here to skip to our pot sizes decoded table. https://www.growjourney.com/finally-garden-pot-sizes-decoded/ What are trade gallons? Alrighty, perhaps we should go by soil volume instead and recommend a 1 gallon pot. Do you choose the pots labeled “one gallon” in nurseries that really only hold 0.664 gallons of soil, or should you find a pot that you can literally fit a full gallon of soil into? Yep, if you ever looked at a “one gallon” nursery perennial and thought it couldn’t possibly be the same size as the milk jug from the grocery, your eyes weren’t playing tricks on you. Turns out there are “gallons” and then there are nursery “trade gallons” which are approximately equal to 0.71 of a regular gallon. Now that we’re onto the trade gallons scheme, it must mean our predicament has been solved since everyone’s container size recommendations should mean “trade gallon” pots. Whew. That would mean if you’re supposed to use a “five gallon” nursery pot, your plant actually only needs the 3.55 regular gallons of soil that a 5 trade gallon pot should hold… wait… no! An internet search turned up nursery standard “five gallon” pots that hold 3.55 gallons, 3.68 gallons, 4.16 gallons, 4.97 gallons, or 5.03 gallons. Didn’t all the plastic pot molding corporations get the conspiracy memo? Also, now we still have no clue what size pot to actually use. How about we turn to an old standby and look at bulletins and fact sheets released by land grant university Cooperative Extension services? After reading nearly two dozen of them from all over the country, I learned that… nobody agrees, even slightly, right down to whether it should be listed by pot volumes or pot diameters. More University Extension services used volume, but one office might say 1 gallon for peppers while others insist 5 gallons is the minimum. For tomatoes, extension offices recommended anywhere from 1-15 gallons. For the record, we cannot imagine growing a successful full-sized tomato plant in a 1 gallon pot! crownpoodle
. 17 days. Looking good mostly. Some deficiencies showing in the Blackened Oranges in some low stuff. Been addressed. Liking how the buds are forming. Thing they'll produce just fine. Too nasty to get to get them out for a proper look today. 5 1 Link to comment
frankslan
Ac infinity makes some cool stuff. these look cool: AC Infinity Self-Watering Fabric Pot Base, 4-Pack $60.00 I hate those cheap fabric pots too. The best fabric pots are these transplanter pots from htg supply. They are like 3 times thicker than normal cheap ones. Even twice as thick as a decent regular bag. You can water fast with out it pouring out the sides. Phat Sack Transplanting Pots Edited January 6, 2023 by frankslan 6 Link to comment

My back thinks so too. I've got a T6, a T4, and a 2x2 tent. They tent size is limiting, but it's real well made. Looking at a bigger one to veg in. I noticed a big difference with those cheap fabric pots. Different thickness stuff spliced together. I threw a few out. Edited January 6, 2023 by crownpoodle 4 Link to comment
frankslan
@crownpoodle I was looking at the tents im sure they are decent but i need windows on all three sides. Zett
Im using these from G Hydro for the past 2 years or so. Very cheap and they last for freaking ever. I think I can do a whole year with one filter in the tent. Ill actually have to order 2 new ones just to have backup on hand and who knows when they will increase prices....they have been around $50 since Im using them Edited January 6, 2023 by Zett 6 1 Link to comment
TopShelfTrees
wow, 50$ is crazy cheap. I have been using vortex, they last forever and have shorties etc. to fit in small places. But you can grab like 3-4 of those you posted @Zettfor the same price. I like this, finding some killer cheap options for future. Many thanks all 5 Link to comment
Zett
Yea I tried out a few different ones. Even looked into replacing the coal myself. Some filters I tried only worked 2 or 3 month, so they crapped out right towards the end of flower when its mostly needed....once I tried these I never looked back. Lots of natural branching and bud sites. Branches were stout. Colorful plant too. 2 Link to comment

crownpoodle
Ordered an AC Infinity 3x3 today to veg in. I'm OK on lights, fans, etc for now. This will really help me out. I can use it for drying too. Someplace I saw where a 2x2 was laid on its side for clones and seedlings. Hmmm. After a fitful start, I'm chugging along. What I thought was Black Triangle is interesting. Some variegated leaves. 1 and 2 blades. Fork tip. Odd growth in general. @TopShelfTrees aren't you a leaf guy? Photos didn’t come out great.
