Mushroom Foraging / Mychotic Reaction

Kingfish

Well it took me about 7 weeks after relocating to The Green Mountains of Vermont, but I finally found my 1st accessible Chaga “Orange  Gold” today. Been going out daily, it is incredible to be amongst the hardwood trees and all that is associated with them. What I am coming across the most by far is actually Indian Pipe / Ghost Plant / Corpse Plant as it seems to be everywhere I go. I feel a spiritual connection to this non-chlorophyll non-photosynthetic plant. Here’s just a tiny % of what a I’ve found recently..

How much of that ghost pipe do you need for say a quart jar of 150 proof everclear ???? I just found a ton of it but didn’t pick any but I’m really wanting to try some tincture. Was a great year for chanterelles in MI

I usually just fill a jar to 3/4 or 7/8 full with Ghost Pipe and cover with 100 proof vodka. The liquid turns fully purple within a few days. I tried both everclear and ACV, but prefer the 100 proof vodka as some batches will be full strength and others will be diluted about 50% with water. I find with tinctures in general, most patients can’t stomach the straight booze, although with Ghost Pipe Tincture, sometimes a few drops can be a sufficient dose.  I’m still playing around with everything for final product.

I have several buddies in Midwest that say it’s been a banner Chanterelle season, I just haven’t really seen big numbers yet in VT (limited / inconsistent rain most likely the culprit). Also making Reishi and Chaga tinctures - Turkey tails are next ...
