How about another contest?

The rules?

well, there aren't any except it must be Strawberry Hill/OTLB seed collective gear , grown in whatever method you choose, indoors or out.

You must at the very least, post harvest pics and a summary of the grow, harvest report and smoke report to qualify your entry. I realize for privacy reasons some folks don't post thier grows in thier entirety. You may email your updates/photos to otlbseedcollective@gmail.com if privacy is your concern.

Two prizes will be awarded at the end of the contest which will be Midnite (pacific time) December 31st 2020 , one prize for indoor and one for outdoor.

I may throw some bonuses out for effort too so some folks might just win a prize for just participating 😄

Prizes?

Grand prizes will be a collection of Strawberry Hill gear valuing over 500.USD and will include new releases from 2020 that I will update on later.

To enter:

post questions and discussion here but for official entries, please start your own  "contest grow thread" here in the Strawberry Hill breeder forum

Beans are available exclusively at GLG

that's it....

any questions please ask away here or shoot me an email

so no official contest entries yet????

you guys are snoozin on a killer prize pack

got my new upcoming release Burnin Biscuits (Biker Kush V1 x Fire OGKB) in the last couple weeks of flower indoors. They are Biker kush dominant for structure and flower expression but did that Fire OGKB ever kick up the nose on these girls. I just get a rush when I smell them and can't wait for harvest time. All three females I got from the test grow seed pop are near identical and they are nice and stable thru some mild stress testing. Mites were a problem for me over winter but this cross seems to be mostly resistant or the mites prefer them less hehehe

anyhow...… contest is live, indoor or outdoor.

I might not be posting much on forums these days but I'm still watchin 😉

cheers and good fortune to all your gardens this summer!!

Wow! that is a fantastic prize!

Dam it!

I did not get mine going in time for outdoor this year.

I will try and pop mine here before I take a bit of a vacation.

@Tynehead Tom

Let us know what you have cooking for the future.

@shaggy

I'm doing germ tests and test grows on the beans I made last summer and 1st winter run indoors.

The Goji OG x 88G13Hp(bodhi) that I did the multi plant F2 with are getting tested by a few friends.

The Bubba Royale I've seen enuff test grows to drop those but am doing a test run for myself right now

The Power Flower ---- HAOG x Biker KushV1 male , germ tests were kinda so/so..... I think those plants needed another week for the seeds.

These 3 have been packaged up for a drop but my health and mobility has had me pretty slow getting that drop in..... working on it.

I think the Power Flower beans will be freebies but I expect awesomeness from those that do sprout. My ratio was 6 sprouted for 10 seeds.

Gonna do that cross again though.

anyhow.... what's on deck

Burnin Biscuits - Biker Kush V1 x Fire OGKB

Gorilla Thug - Biker Kush x Gorilla Bubble BX2 sour male

Mendo Scout - Mendo Breath x Scout Breath

these three are in test grow right now at nearing 6weeks from seed so will have them in the greenhouse for the summer light dep run.

I also hit my keeper Scoutbreath cut with Biker Kush V1 so will have to include some of those in the 2020 contest grow prize pack.

Got Fire Alien Kush in the mix for a bit of an open pollination repro and probably gonna let some pollen loose on some keepers.....

I dunno….. we'll see where the adventure takes me 😉

nothin but fire and flavor in the future that;s all I know

How did I miss this thread ?

I have some of your Super Collider Kush and would definitely have liked

to have entered - no chance of winning with my growing skills and set up though -

but the tent will be in use until mid-October so no go I'm afraid. Bugger !

Like the sound of what you had on deck earlier - how are they going mate?

Did you get any official entries for this year's comp ?

All the best my friend !

Nope , no official entries so far but the contest is open all year so there is lots of time to soak seeds 😉

I am test growing my next release right now.

Burnin Biscuits - (Biker V1 x Fire OGKB) got 3 females indoors at day 66 with at least another week to go

Out in the greenhouse I am testing Bubba Royale (P98 bubba x long valley royal kush) , Gorilla Thug (biker v1 x gorilla bubble bx2) and Mendo Scout (mendo breath clone only x scout breath)

if I like what I find I will make a large batch of seeds of each but I have enough for a small drop and will hold some back for the 2020 prize pack

I have my seeds in hand now, but tis summer...LOL

They were supposed to be my first outdoor grow but uh, you know.

I may still be able to get involved if I get off my lazy ass.

The prize for this is very nice!😉

Finally booked on here. Been quite a while. Been busier than a two peckered horny toad. Just saw the contest and will be entering for sure. Will get some photos up, have 15 plants going into 9th week of flowering. Being the defending indoor champ it is only right that there is a standard to be set. :). There are seven different varieties of Tom's seeds. Started with 34 plants and ended up with 15 ladies. Will get on this and get some photos up tomorrow. Repeating champ sounds good to me. :).

I missed this but if you run another I will for sure get something going. I need to grab some packs still. Any plans for new releases or restocks if you have strains out of stock at glg? If you had to pick 1 which would it be? I like to buy multiple packs and do a good selection if possible. @Tynehead Tom

I dunno if anything has sold out. I only drop at GLG and funds from the beans currently listed there right now are for GLG fundraising projects.

I had a small drop ready to send in but my medical conditions have had me in the hospital and travelling for MRI's and specialists and getting my drop in has not been a big priority.

Still time to grab some packs and get some beans under some lights before the December 31st contest end date.

I'll try and get those Goji Ghash F2 open beans that bodhi said I could drop for GLG fundraising efforts ...... don't miss out on those when you see them drop. Be before end of summer.

Took another look when taking photos and the Super Collinder Kush did not make the cut. There are 5 Black Scratch in total. Originally planted 28 of Tom's seeds, four of each variety, hoping for at least one female of each type. Then planted another 12 as I wanted to make sure of having enough females. Had nutrition problems on my last grow and it ruined my approach. This time around have been more successful.  There are five Black Scratch this go around so good news upon harvest, Tom, will send some your way.

Chunk D HashPlant

Hope I got all the names right this time around Tom. Went 3 gallon containers as that was all I could fit in my growing space for this # of plants. Strong healthy plants with excellent germination rates. As mentioned entering 10th week since the flip to 12/12. Have avoided my past mistakes until now. I have scorched my plants twice and err on the side of caution and keep my LED's at least 28 inches away. The manufacturers guidelines were 18-22 inches. That cost me my best plant last go around. Getting exciting as we close in on harvest. Having major trouble keeping my RH down which is not usually an issue as RH runs 20 to 30. Very wet this year so end up leaving the tent open all day which is not preferable but only way out for now. Have a couple de-humidifiers coming in the mail and that should help with the last couple three weeks of bud development. Have not dealt with bud rot yet and would prefer not to. Will update in a week or so.

Flipped everything at six weeks with very little training.

@Tynehead Tom I will grab a couple packs in a couple weeks at GLG. Or if my tax return hits my account before then I'm on it!  I usually veg for 2+ months though. I need a small plant test room but numbers restrictions have me growing larger plants.

@Blake very nice!!

So cool to see so many of the crosses I've made in one garden outside my own LOL

Sorry I been a stranger , been kinda occupied but will try and remember to give ya a hollar more often. Wife reconnected with an ex coworker she became friends with soon after moving to canada. Just so happens her and the husband have a piece of land on the Bulkley and an open invite to visit so it's long shot but we "might" be heading up that way??

Your Gorilla Thug is further along than mine. You are one of the few that have those so far so will be cool to see how they turn out.

@Chronic2001 ya man, grab some packs , you will be supporting GLG fundraising efforts for the many good causes that DBJ and crew get behind..... and you get to grow some killer beans too !! it's a win win 😄

Whats your feeling on super collider kush vs black scratch? @Tynehead Tom I usually like to grab 2-4 packs per strain and run them all. I had black scratch in my cart then read the description on the kush and figures id ask before ordering. Didnt consider the other chunk d due to the compact structure in the description.

Super Collider might have an edge in potency and flavor but both are in the Kush spectrum. It's hard for me to pick one or the other but I've grown out more super collider than black scratch so I am biased towards the flavors of the super collider. @blake was impressed enough with the black scratch that he popped more beans so I'm thinking ya can't go wrong either way.

Chunk D is for the Deep Chunk lovers out there..... excellent outdoor variety and lots of potential for the hobby breeders to find some nice plants to work into thier own deep chunk projects.

I got too try 4 phenos of the super collider kush... was really distinct flavour and smell, 2 of the 4 had more of the creamy kinda lavender smell the one being the strongest but both those got great reviews from my buddies @Flav421 and his longtime grower and online dispensary owner buddy who both thought it was really unique and special in a good way!

Pretty damn strong too, lol I notice as a long time grower that a lot of things build a lot of hype now are not really that good... I think a wave of people are breeding and selecting now with great passion, but may have been less experienced with true cuts of strong weed that where widely spread in commercial areas during prohibition like the OG hashplant chem sour etc that actually where really strong..

Anyways I'm noticing it's harder to find reputable reliable reviews because everyone is just so stoked on growing all these nice looking tasty varieties they can be misleading to heavier or more experienced smokers ...

Think you'll definitely be happy with these! Wasn't knock out crazy strong but checked a lot of boxes evenly, and I think that's what's important in s line ... being able to find good representation in a pack of the ideal plant and that plant checking at least 3 boxes between yield strength taste smell and uniqueness overall.. I think @Tynehead Tom did a really good job on achieving that in this line!

Link to comment

thanks for the great review @Coastal , really glad you and you friends enjoyed the Super Collider so much.

My whole thing with breeding is the combining of plants that I just feel should go together in hopes of amplifying thier flavor and effect.

Super Collider is a perfect example of that plan put to work as I felt that the Long Valley and the Old Grandpa Scratch would lead to a winning combination and it seems it has indeed done that.

If you enjoyed the Super Collider ...... just wait till your sample packs of Burnin Biscuits land in your lap...... I think I will be finding a new BC elite in the seeds yet to be popped. Only got 3 females from my personal test grow/germination test and all three are absolute winners..... well.... you can tell us that after you have had a chance to try them for yourself 😄

I'm not releasing this rendition but instead will be doing a large pheno hunt for the parents of the beans I will release. This version will be in the 2020 contest grow prize pack though.

@Tynehead Tom @fabvariousk I plan on entering some events next year. My buddy has been bugging me he says if I don't do it he was going to take my flower and enter it for me lol. So I will be repping any breeder I find something worthy in their gear. They will get a entry at a cup and a chance to shine! I will have to grab some more packs when I have the extra cash to do a proper hunt. All I ask is if yall blow up you set back some seeds for me before they sell out! Hope everyone's garden is jamming. Have a happy Friday 😀

Guess I should start another contest thread on this forum with my next  batch of photos. Major nuisance with the humidity as I have to close up at 20:00 each evening and of course didn't get to it last night. Didn't close up until midnite. Pushed the clock back for 12 today and will bring it back to 8 and 8 in stages. Fingers crossed I didn't hermie the whole bunch. Have never had humidity issues and usually have to run a humidifier to keep the moisture up. Have a couple of those Canadian Autos going and will get some photos up of those. They are outside and will be interesting to see how they do. Will start them at least two weeks earlier next season.

Tom as far as heading up this way. The sockeye are running late, the opening will definitely be delayed. If you decide to head up let me know and we can maybe guess when the run will be going strong. Definitely two weeks late at this point. Look forward to seeing you and showing you and wife around our end of the lake. The guest cabin is complete and all my family will be gone by the 17th Aug. See how things go.
