Given 5 Chem OG seeds by Female Seeds - doing a grow journal at "another" site for contest. Posting it here too!

Today went to Dad's to sanitize/prep tent and equipment.  We're not going to deviate from previous grow equipment, but let me list what is going to be used. (Manufacturer/model name given where possible).

Seeds: Female Seeds Chem OG (OG Kush x Chemdawg)
Tent: 48" wide x 24" deep x 60" high. GYO series.
Light: Mars 300 led

Light: Vivosun 300 led

Light schedule: 12/12 from seed

Air pump: Hydrofarm AAPA15L 6-Watt 15-LPM Active Aqua Air Pump with 4 Outlets. Dual 4" airstone per rez.
Nutrients: Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect Nutrients, Fertilizer. Bloom, Micro and Grow 1-Liter.
Additives: Superthrive
Grow medium: Hydroton
Starter medium: Peat pellets
Net pot: 4"
Reservoir: Rubbermaid 11 litre
Carbon filter: 4"
Exhaust fan: 135 cfm

Each plant will have it's own 300w led - due to restricted space we're running these 2 at a time. 2 x 300w in a 8 sq ft area (actual about 270w). I'm curious to see if 1 outperforms the other in a side by side, but that's not the focus.

Take an eyedropper and put a couple drops of water on it a few times a day . Then you should be able to push it off with a tooth pick . A visual aid is a big help for us old guys 😎

Thanks - great tip.  It's on there, solid. I'm pushing 60 - I can only work with large visual clues, my eyesight is shit.

The babies are both up and green - even though the Chem OG 1 is a week older, they both have very long tap roots. Love my dwc for root p0rn. My Dad is holding the lids up so I can get pics of roots.

Crazy how long the tap root is makes me want to start my seeds in a much larger pot.

Probably a good idea to try it and see.  I like dwc for the root growth, it does show what they'll do when given the room. Thanks for stopping in!

for sure Ill be keeping an eye out very interested in 12 12 from seed. My friend on another forum used to do it. One time I had a seedling pop up in my no till it basically ran 12 12 but it only grew about 12 inches tall and I got like a joint out of it lol.

holy cow that thing is mad long now. Ya see I think what I need to be doing is starting my seeds right in my 25 gal no till beds. Id probably have way healthier plants. Im thinking getting another tent and then I can swap my lights over from tent to tent. which ever tent is in flower will get any extra light.

12/12 is legit - I had 1/2 pound of homegrown from 3 smaller 12/12 plants. Had, smoking it now. Still have tons. I've grown that way a few times, always yielded well, and seen sme impressive grows.

Root space is critical - for example autos need room for roots. Small containers restrict growth & stunt plant. Dwc gives plenty of room for roots in a fairly small place - it's less than 2 gallons of water/nutes but room for miles as far as roots are concerned.

Nice thats a good haul for sure I dont think Id get anywhere near that in soil though. Your making me want to give dwc a shot try now. How long does it take to start flowering like a month?

Flowering was noticeable after a month, but there is a decent stretch from then for about a month. It grows as it flowers. Then it just fattens. Worked for both sat & indica dom hybrids. I'm going to SCROG these. You should try dwc. Fast & fat. Low maintenance. Low cost. Keep it cheap & simple.

so the flowering take a bit longer than normal well Ill follow along and see how it goes.

Dont you have to keep the water temp down though thats the only thing that seems like it would be a pain to deal with. Im usually around 82  max in the summer time. Of course the nutes would be tricky for me at first but I could deal.

I was done in 13 weeks from germination. At the cheapest electric rate we have. I really don't have issue with rez temps - I double wall my rez, put my rubbermaid tote into a second one for insulation & I usually cover lid with insulation. Tent is in basement, water temps from mid 60's to low 70's lights on. I only just started using 3 part nutes, A + B was my usual go to. I never pH my tap water, but I do use aquarium treatment for chorine, etc. I'm actually a ghetto grower, cheap cheap cheap is my way. Dirt is great, outside. Inside, you're creating the environment, why not give your babies a boost?

what are you air temps like max air temps. Is it a cement basement floor?

Wood subfloor over concrete, peel & stick tile on that. Tent has floor plus removable tray/floor. Air temps are mid 60's. Air flow & good exhaust gets heat out. Plus lights on for 12/12 means less heat then 18/6. Win win win.

Had a visit and a peek at the babies - Dad helped me out by holding lids up so I could get the root p0rn. #1 is looking like feeding is coming & #2 is not nearly ready. Probably not gonna do much more root p0rn for a bit, the roots are curling around airstones & I don't wanna break them. Anyone who wonders what those roots are doing in the first few weeks - give them room to grow!

Wow, what they'll do in 5 days is pretty incredible.  Looking good.

Like icebergs - 90% underwater.  I've always loved dwc, but these early closeup root looks are really proving to me how much the plants love it. Those tendrils are looooooong!

The bigger plant got it's first feeding today - I mixed a 1/2 strength grow / micro nutes for it. The smaller, 2nd plant is too small yet. Both their roots are damn near furry with the side shoots.

Bigger plant seems to have responded to light feeding - roots are stained a tad from it. Plant #2 is still not ready for food. I'm not going to be doing update until at least this Sunday nite, so there should be noticeable growth by then
