Muskegon County’s first licensed medical marijuana provision center is open, and Ottawa County’s first such establishment isn’t far behind.

Park Place Provisionary, 1922 Park St., opened last month, becoming the first business of its kind in Muskegon County. Agri-Med, which is the licensee for Park Place, also will open Exit 9 Provisionary this month in Ottawa.

Agri-Med, which is owned by Muskegon resident Greg Maki, was the ninth applicant for a medical marijuana license in the state and the fifth prequalified license issued by the state.

“For a medical marijuana facility to be owned by someone who lives in the city of Muskegon is very rare,” Maki said. “Almost all the provisionary and any place to do with medical marijuana, other than the secured transporters and safety and compliance (firms), they are all owned by people on the other side of the state or people in other states. So, for someone to be local from this municipality and live here is rare.”

The medical marijuana facility has about 14 staff. They sell marijuana flowers, vaporizers, edibles, tinctures and accessories, among other things.

Maki said there are plans to grow medical marijuana.

“We want to be West Michigan’s number-one supplier for state-tested medical marijuana,” he said.
