Appreciate it! You can scoop the seed crackers from @woodshed13 on IG. He does proper business.

Thanks, I have quite a few old seeds that I'd like to pop and some seem to be sealed shut.

I'm on the fence with the cracker. It may work really good for mid-aged seeds, but I would definitely consider sourcing a Ga3 tissue culture/seed starting kit from scamazon if you have really old seed.

4-8 years are my oldest ones.

That's not too old really. It would just depend on storage, and handling procedures during the chain of custody. You could always use it on half your stock to see what happens. I did that with newer seed, and it did not make a difference, pro or con.

I love the way the Creme Brulee grows. I can't wait to try the burnt toffee/caramel chem flavors.

I trimmed back all the bushes, and shaved their legs nice and tight.

Side note, I finally trashed these horrible Mars Reflector series LED units, and went back to the tried-and-trusted t12 6500K bulbs for my veg and cloning area.

This is where I geek the fuck out! This is a top-dress mix I made up for the ladies as they transition into bloom.

It consists of 5 gallons aged Alpaca manure, 2/3 c Neem/Karanja blend, 2/3 c Crustacean Meal, 2/3 c Insect Frass, 3 c Build-a-Soil Mineral Mix (gypsum, brix blend basalt,  oyster shell flour), and 2 c Rolled Oats, all blended up really well. I then cover the mix with 2 additional cups of Rolled Oats, and thoroughly wet down with 1 gallon of water, containing 4 Tbsp EM-1 and 2 Tbsp Ful Power. I covered it, and took three days to achieve this kind of growth.

This is a super simple tea for getting plants loaded with healthy reserves. It consists of 28 g sprouted Alfalfa Seed, pureed, and mixed with 1/4 c Kelp Meal in 5 gallons of water, and bubbled for 10 hours. I top-dressed all the plants with 5 c of the above mix, and watered in with the Alfalfa/Kelp tea at pure strength.

Some electric Durban Poison, continued by Kinetic Genetics. I plan to pop 35 seeds of these in the 2019 outdoor season.

This girl had what I would consider much more aesthetic in bag appeal, with light peppery/spicy tones mixed with notes of lavender/flower. The high is smooth, and cerebral, with little raciness to it. I think I prefer the sweeter plants, that turn more golden in cure. This is still some fire! Even the plants that tasted like hay had great highs.

Lets take the time to talk IPM for a minute. More importantly, lets talk Soap Nuts. Soap nuts are absolutely amazing, both for the emulsifying properties, as well as their nutrient/pesticide properties.

IMG_4545.JPG.e01465cff1161bae75486ca3bd0a2eb0.JPG

First off, lets talk emulsification. Most of us that use IPM techniques are aware we need something to emulsify the oils we utilize. What do you use? I have used Potassium Silicate in the form of AgSil16-H, Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds, Aloe, Alfalfa, the works basically. Many people have jumped on the Yucca bandwagon in  the past few years. But why not Soap Nuts? Alfalfa only contains roughly 30,000 ppm saponins, Yucca, 40,000. Meanwhile, Soap Nuts is over there waiting for you, ringing in at a whopping 250,000 ppm saponins! That is 25%!!! Beyond this, they contain bountiful trace nutrients, and phytonutrients, as well as insecticidal properties that will straight up murder some bugs. There is little in the world of scientific papers concerning these benefits though.

So lets talk use. For IPM purposes, I simply take three Soap Nuts, which are actually berries that grow on trees and have been pitted, and I put them in 16 oz of water for 12-36 hours, shaking often. I leave the jar containing this on the counter. The nuts will actually undergo a slight fermentation at room temperature, and the alcohols produced during this process help drive the compounds into the cells of the plants and insects. I add to the jar whatever I need to mix, and then add to one gallon of water for spraying. Some often over-looked oils when it comes to soft-bodied insects are Sesame Oil and Clove E.O. Clove Essential Oils will straight fuck some bugs up, and you, so wear a mask!!!!!!

The darker jar in the picture below is what is referred to as Soap Nut Liquid, used for soaps, laundry detergent, de-greasers, etc. It is made by boiling 5 Soap Nuts in 2 cups of water for about 20 minutes, adding 1 cup more of water, and boiling for another 10 minutes. It helps to put the berries in a muslin bag, provided by most Soap Nut companies, and pressing the berries/bag with a spoon. Take care, as the mixture can boil over easily. Pour the liquid into a jar, and rinse the berries with an additional cup of water over the jar. This mix needs to be kept in the fridge, preventing fermentation.

The burnt toffee phenotype of Creme Brulee is showing a little root love too! This plant is a blast to watch grow.

This is the mom in the cross I made, "78 LA OG Affie x Chocolate Thai. The Affie mom was solid menthol, OG funk, with a hint of that classic Afghani sweetness. Somehow, some way, one of the f1's from this cross tasted like oranges and fried chicken, and was a super head thumper. IMG_1853.thumb.JPG.1361b3e4a626341518ad45e46cec586a.JPG625154577_78LAOGAffie.jpg.e230450415a43b7ef6469141d7c9a447.jpg

Oranges and fried chicken?  hmmm that's an intriguing combo 🙂

Great thread.

Thanks for checking it out! The flavor profile wasn't exactly what I was aiming for. I'm actually planning on redoing the cross, using a Vintage Afghan (BOEL Afghan) female from Golden Coast Genetics. But I should have lots of Afghan moms to choose from by season's end.

zombug,

nice thread and you have some nice stuff going.  good info on the last page and i get you are growing organic but are you doing a no-till grow?  no-till using cover crops and SST (seed sprout teas) and wc/compost teas is where im heading w/my grows, i just need to make that jump.

@Kingfish that not my mix thats @zombug flower topdress was reading through his thread. check up above on this page some good stuff on soapnut up there and IPM. who knew its bad to breath Essential oil.

IPM's can really do some damage to us little monkeys. I have a mix that I use in Summer, for those obnoxious bugs on food crops, like squash bugs, japanese beetles, locusts/grasshoppers, etc. I got a bit on my calf, and failed to rinse it quickly. I ended up having severe burns on my leg that resulted in scabs and scars.

My apologies @zombug, that is intense growth, really interesting.
