The Waxing Crescent Moon of Nov 8th, 2018.

.Image

Notes~

11/4/18, 1/4 tsp of endomycorrhizal fungi was watered into each pot. Other than that they had water and love over the last week.

~The humidity was reduced to a range of 47% - 58% depending if it's measured above or below the canopy...the room needs more air movement. The humidity is spiking over the hour after the lights go off as the temperature drops 9F (from around 79F to 70F). A heater will be set up with a timer to hold the temperature up after the lights go out. Holding a consistant temperature after light out will erase the humidity spike or decreasing the temperature gradually should give time for the dehumidifier to keep up.

~Two 8 foot/four bulb fluorescent fixtures were deployed over head in the flower room...photo below. Running four 6500k bulbs and four hortilux FS-UV. The fluorescents come on the fifth hour of the cycle. They were on for two hours on 11/3 and 11/4, two and a half hours on 11/5 and 11/6 and increased to three hours on 11/7. The fluorescent light cycle will progressively increase every two days till it runs for four hours over the middle of the cycle, that duration will be held for a few days, maybe more (i'll watch the plants), and then it will be decreased in the same fashion.

The soil is really active now, almost too much. The worms have multiplied and made quick work of the top layer. I should have stopped feeding them the (N) rich trim leaves a couple weeks ago. It seems the more focus that goes into keeping the top layer of the soil healthy and active, the less amendments need to go into the initial mix. Along with that the topdressings get processed much faster.

Novembers First Quarter Moon.

moon-first-quarter-6-26-2012_Duke_Marsh_IN.jpg

The 1st quarter moon as captured by Duke Marsh in Indiana.

Notes

11/8/18. More fall debri was added to the top layer of the pots. All the plant prunings of leaves and stems were layered over top of the first addition of fall debri which the worms rapidly turned into poo. (Too much (N) rich material for too long considering the fresh/unprocessed amendments already in the mix are rapidly becoming available at the moment. Giving the soil a proper rest period to process the fresh amendments before planting into it would have solved all the leaf curl issues seen below.) Any plant debri now goes to the worm bin on the porch. There were bare spots exposing the humus layer, mostly worm castings in this case, so the fall debri was added. You can see the before and after images below...and a bare spot. Sorry for the yellow...

11/9/18, The humidity was dropped another 5% overall and the temperature has been held consistant through the night since the addition of the heater. Although i'm still getting a little humidity spike when the dehumidifier stops scrubbing to run the tank pump. I'm going to have to hook up a garden hose so the pump wont need to run.

11/15/18, Bloom day 49. The light cycle has been reduced to 11.5 on/12.5 off. The fluorescents lights were also reduced from 4 hours on down to 3.

The 2018's Novembers Full Moon is upon us...opportunites of a lifetime...so they say...whoever they are?

Image result for 2018 november full moon

Notes~

The climate has been consistant since the last post. 75F - 78F with a RH of 38% - 52% depending where you are in the room. The intake air is cold and dry during the days and nights this time of the season which helps.

The duration of the fluorescent light cycle was gradually reduced over the last week to being on for only 1 hour during the middle of the day.

11/22/18, The HID light cycle was reduced by another 30 minutes to 11/13.

11/23/18, Bloom Day 58.  After inspecting the resin with a 60x+ scope they are all still pretty translucent besides a few on (P20 x SI #2) are just starting to turn milky.

A friend visited the room the other day...my roomate. I like to get her opinion on smells because she's a very moderate smoker and has a good nose for it. Her nose gets overwhelmed quickly from the resin so she can only accurately judge a few per day.  Here are some of her scent perceptions.

Super Silver Haze jd cut x Sleeping Iraqi #4B. More orange then #4 with a little musk. This plant was the runt of the twins from the same seed. The two plants were seperated shortly after germination. The above plant (#4) was the dominant of the twins after germination. Had I pulled the runt and left the dominant of the two shoots this sleeping beauty would have been lost. . .

Platinum 20 x Sleeping Iraqi #2. Like sticking your nose in a glass of gin and tonic. Very pine and sour with an alcohol vapor. I have an itch to wash this whole plant for its resin...maybe cure a couple nuggets for the smoke test. Just cant decide to hang it bundled and wash it dry or freeze it fresh?

Not much besides daily water and love for these ladies over the last week...sometimes that's all they need.

The climate has been consistant since the last post. 75F - 78F day and night with a RH of 38% - 52% depending where you are in the room.

11/29/18, Bloom Day 64. The HID light cycle was reduced another 30 minutes to 10.5 on/13.5 off.

Strayfox Gardenz, Super Sliver Haze jd cut x Sleeping Iraqi #1. The resin is maturing nicely. There is about 50%+ translucent, 30% cloudy and some amber colored trichomes...looking at the middle tier flowers. I had my roommate back in for the other two... she said this one "smells like lemons on the top...like gas....mostly gasoline."

~The leaves will start to be removed from the P20 x SI sisters over this next week to get ready for the chop and maybe the SSH jd cut x SI #1, she's getting close too...at least i'm wishing for ripeness in a week.

12/6/18, The HID light cycle was reduced by another 30 minutes to 10 hours on/14 hours off. This time it was taken from the morning of the cycle so the plants sleep in longer.

12/7/18, Bloom Day 73.

Super Silver Haze x Sleeping Iraqi #1. Around 25%+ amber resin and the rest is half and half, translucent/cloudy.

Platinum 20 x Sleeping Iraqi #2. Anthocyanin is starting to fill the hypodermal cells in the center of the resin stalks, starting at the bract. Looks like purple dye being drawn up the center of the resin stalk. . .not referring to to the color of the leaves. My camera won't magnify in macro? It's easy to see under a 60+ magnification scope. This is the first I've had a plant express this in my garden. Most of the resin glands are cloudy or getting there and some are amber.

The Winter Solstice Full Moon was an incredible experience this year.

Image result for winter solstice full moon

Notes~

The soil mix worked well over all. It was a little light on liming agents/(carbonates) and could have used a longer activation period. More crustacean meal and oyster shell flour will be added next time.

Most of the leaves were removed over the next 4 days, besides the frosty ones of course. I prefer to hang the plants as whole as possible and dry as slow as possible.

12/10/18, The fluorescents were turned off completely and the HID light cycle was reduced by another 2 hours...8 on and 16 off.  One daylight hour was removed from the morning and one  from the evening.

12/13/18, The Platinum 20 x Sleeping Iraqi sisters were harvested.

12/14/18, The Super Silver Haze jd cut x Sleeping Iraqi sisters were harvested.

A nice heady jar of nuggets from each plant will be cured up over the next 3 months along with some fermented Malawi Style Cobs from the SSH sisters. The rest of the material will be lightly bundled up for 3+ months to be later washed for its resin.

They will cure a while before the smoke reports will come out. I'll post some trimming pics and try to keep it active till then. There are some Platinum 20 x Sleeping Iraqi sisters staged for another run. I'll post some pics of them too.

I hope to see both of these lines in the future releases from Strayfox Gardenz. Every tester plant was worth their space in the garden and smells amazing! If these scents transfer to flavor after the cure this is going to be some tasty fire for sure! All of these beautiful ladies finished clean, not a spot of Powdery Mildew, no pest attacks and no signs of intersex...i'd recommend the gear from Strayfox Gardenz to anyone.

A special thank you to the family at Strayfox Gardenz for testing their lines before releasing them and for allowing me to handle such fire, outstanding seeds Stray, thank you!

Thank you for the good words brother @Coastal. Strays Iraqi stud is the real deal. Definitely dont want to sleep on those crosses. All the plants were worthy of the space they held.

When Stray sent you those seeds did he know was a giving us all a gift here at the lab.    Nice show brother.   Beautiful  run.

Thank you for the complement brother @3rdCoaster.

The microbes did all the work. For the most part the plants grew themselves. All I had to do is make sure they had water. The plants would have held themselves up just fine too but the extra support usually adds up to a little more weight.

Hello to the ZLabs family, I hope everyone is doing well as we enter the Final Phase of the Moon.

See the source image

It's been about two months worth of a jar cure after twelve days of drying and the flavors are starting to develop nicely.

Lots going on these days. I'll  post more reports as I go.

This is Platinum 20 x Sleeping Iraqi #5. Sorry, it's a phone camera.

When broken apart she releases scents of tyme, pine, lemons and citrus. The smoke from a clean bowl or a fine paper flows smooth into the lungs without a cough. The flavor is full and sinus coating mirroring the scents that come through in layers as the effects are developing.

The effects are clean in the body and clear in the mind leaving the head open for direction. I can smoke throughout the day creating and staying on task. It's also a good smoke for the evening lending itself to mindful meditation. The flavors are a pleasant focal point as you drift through the layers of self.

You can score gear from Strayfox Gardenz at Great Lakes Genetics.com, Quality seeds at fair prices...not to forget the top shelf Bad Dawg freebies DBJ throws in!

Hello again to the wonderful folks in the Lab community.

A few photos from the second run of two of the Platinum 20 x Sleeping Iraqi sisters. . .Bloom day 56.

Some flowers from the Platinum 20 x Sleeping Iraqi #2 after a 3 month cure. This seeds plant was harvested after 68 days of bloom. The C1 plant above will be harvested on the 58th day of bloom.

The cured flowers release a fresh Gin & Tonic/Pine scent as they are broken up. The scents transfer well over to the flavors left on the palate after a pull from a clean smoking utensil. The smoke is received smooth and soft on the lungs, leaving the flavor way back in the throat and high in the sinuses. Here it lingers for a while as the effects settle in. The effects are instantaneous bringing an expanding warm rush over the chest, neck and head. . .balanced over all, leaning a little to the heady side of things. It lends itself to a creative and happy experience. It's fun to smoke at anytime of the day...however she can split a wig if overindulged and will send the mind into the cosmos so consume responsibly.

The Winter Solstice Full Moon was an incredible experience this year.
